As part of your registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT), a National Criminal History Records Check (NCHRC) will be undertaken.
Once completed the date of this check and the abbreviation NCHRC will appear on the bottom of your VIT Card. This check is valid in all
Victorian schools. These checks are valid for 5 years and must be renewed by yourself at the expiration of this period or you will not
be eligible to teach.
If for whatever reason you do not have a NCHRC, please ring the VIT on 1300 888 067 to get an application form, or download it from their website at www.vit.vic.edu.au The form you need is called a National Criminal History Records Check and can be found by clicking on the links of "Registered Teachers" then "Forms".
The NCHRC will cost approximately $22 dollars and you should allow fourteen days for processing. Should you be waiting longer, please contact the Institute and ask about the delay. If you require further information about National Criminal History Record Checks, please contact the Institute.
